The knowledge of the one true God, the Creator of all things, is a matter of the utmost importance, as upon this depends man’s happiness. It has been the great prerogative of the people of Israel, to receive from God Himself a Divine revelation committed to writing by a series of inspired Prophets, and in these sacred Scriptures God has been pleased to reveal Himself, and to make known to us His Divine character and attributes. Ever knowledge, therefore, we form of the Divine Being, if sound and right, must be derived from these inspired writings.
